One of the things I love about living in Pittsburgh is the growing, green, sustainable community we have! It’s not only just the people but businesses are jumping on board, too! I’m going to be heading to the Phipps Big Green Block Party on May 16th to celebrate the sustainable future, which is here right now! You should join me for some sustainable sips, eats, and innovation. You can purchase your tickets here or scroll down for more details below.
I love getting to learn from this community and try to practice a sustainable mindset as much as I can! You may have noticed that I opted for these stainless straws to use in my coffee versus plastic. Most recently, I also have to share that this dress is actually manufactured with recycled materials (and under $20!) You can definitely wear this dress a number of ways, which is always a win in my book! I loved the idea of putting a cute tee underneath for a casual outing, but you can easily dress this look up by skipping the tee, adding a cute necklace, and some heels! <I’m thinking this would be a great option for a wedding guest dress!>
Other Sustainable Fashion Brands
H&M has their CONSCIOUS line and I love buying from it for myself and Charlie! I also really enjoy Reformation- I’m seriously crushing on this dress and this adorable floral dress right now. Outdoor Voices has really good, quality workout gear. Buying clothing second hand is also a great sustainability practice. I like to utilize second hand shops online such as ThredUp and Poshmark. I often sell my clothes on Poshmark and a lot of times they are very gently worn! It’s a win, win for you, me, and the environment!
In the Spring and Summer there are endless events happening around Pittsburgh so I’m going to do my best to keep you informed on some of the ones I’m interested in (since this is such a popular request)! As I mentioned earlier, my next event I’ll be heading to is the Phipps Big Green Block Party coming up on May 16th! It’s going to be a celebration of the best of sustainability in Pittsburgh. I also have the perfect dress for it already ;-). There will be live music, sips, and eats, in addition to the beautiful grounds of Phipps Conservatory. Plus you’ll get a first look at the new Exhibit Staging Center.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here! All proceeds from the event will provide support for Phipps sustainability programs and initiatives.
I’d love to know some ways in which you incorporate sustainability practices in your life?
