Helllo Monday! It’s going to be an amazing week! Life was crazy last week so I was a little MIA {So sorry about that} but now I recouped and I’m ready to go! To jump right into Spring- I’m teaming up with this southern beauty, Ashley, from The Grits Blog to start our “seasons changing series”. Each season we are going to do a week’s worth of looks paired with hair and make up for that season {office, casual, date, etc.}. Today, I’m starting with The Office. You can absolutely look fabulous at your office job. There is nothing boring about this adorable polka dot pencil skirt. Add a pop of color and a blazer {if you must} and you are ready to conquer that day at work!
Now it’s time to meet Ashley for some office hair and make-up inspiration 🙂
Did you know that my nickname at work is “The Bun Lady”? Yep. That’s what they call me. Hey you need a new macro built out – call the the bun lady! Yes, that’s what gets passed around in the office.
To be honest – it’s an appropriate nickname.
I love buns!
I probably wear my hair in a bun two or three times a week – it’s ridiculous how much I wear a bun. Not to mention, over the weekend you won’t see my hair not in a bun. It’s just too easy for me to do! I probably need to get another hairstyle….ehh maybe not….Bun’s are classy and look great!
Where was I going with this….
Oh yes! Work appropriate make-up and hair! Sorry for getting off on a tangent – I do that from time to time.
Okay. For work, as in the office type of work, there are two rules you need to live by.
(1) Would you be embarrassed if your boss’s boss’s boss stopped by your office to ask a quick question?
(2) If you had to give a totally unexpected presentation in front of a board or group, would you be totally mortified by the way you look?
Believe it or not – appearance at the office is important. If there is a job or promotion you are wanting, you need to look the part, dress the part, and act the part. When it comes to your hair and makeup KEEP IT SIMPLE. You aren’t there to date your co-workers, so do not over sexify yourself. For makeup keep it simple, NO HEAVY EYESHADOWS, NO HEAVY LINERS, and KEEP YOUR MASCARA UN SPIDERY. I wear neutral tones, a thin black liner, one to two coats of mascara, and a red or pink lipstick. Just keep it simple.
For hair I feel like this just depends on what you are doing but the key rule is wear your hair in a style that you aren’t going to want to mess with. So, for example, if you wear your hair down but always want to touch it or play with it – then wear it up or learn not to mess with it. When I have to attend important meetings I typically will wear my hair in a bun. Otherwise, it’s down and straight (or curly!).
