My Dear Rain
It’s been quite rainy here in Pittsburgh lately … It’s probably a little too soon to say April showers bring May flowers… so I’m hoping March showers bring April flowers and we are finished with the snow! Fingers crossed. Hopefully I did not jinx myself.
Living in a city like Pittsburgh there are a few key essential pieces to have so you are prepared for when it rains or snows. The one thing I’ve learned is to always carry an umbrella. I feel like Pittsburgh weather is so unpredictable, that this is just good practice. There is nothing worse than going out on a date night and it start pourding down raining. There goes your hair.
The second most important essential would have to be a nice pair of rain boots. These are perfect for shlupping around when the streets get wet. This was especially important for me when I worked downtown and had to wear heels to work. I certainly didn’t want to deal with them getting wet or freezing cold in the snow. I do like Hunter boots because than double duty in the snow or rain, so it’s a nice investment to make. (I actually did a post on how to find Hunter’s the budget friendly way!)
A nice trench coat is another item I suggest on having. Honestly, trench coats are such a classic Spring trend that has been around forever that it’s good to have one for those cooler mornings, however, they are also perfect to repell the rain. I love when fashion is functional.
I think we’ve covered (literally) everything except… our beautiful handbags! I honestly never really thought about covering them, but when you are rushing through the streets in the rain, I know my bag tends to flail around and it’s getting soaked. Admittantly, I’ve actually had a beautiful leather bag ruined because of water stains from rain. It’s not a good memory I like to keep. I Some handbags cost a pretty penny, so you definitely want to preserve them the best you can and avoide getting good leather wet! My friends at My Dear Rain actually came up with the idea of a handbag poncho!
I was initially skeptical of whether or not I would actually use the poncho because I have enough in my purse that I didn’t want to add one more thing! Dear Rain poncho actually comes in a nice little package and hardly takes any space for me to notice it’s there.
To be quite honest, the poncho actually makes a fashion statement in itself. I can’t tell you how many times someone has stopped me and asked about it or commented on how cute it was!

This is such a cute outfit! And the handbag poncho is genius! My day to day bag is light grey so water marks always show on it. I usually stuff it inside my jacket and make a run for it, but a handbag poncho would be a lot more graceful!
