Last Minute Harry Potter Halloween Costume Idea + DIY Wand
For some reason, Halloween always sneaks up on me and I find myself scrambling last minute for a costume every year. This year I went straight to Amazon Prime for two-day shipping options and an affordable costume. ( No, this is not a sponsored post- I just live for Amazon Prime!). I honestly never have time to actually shop in a mall so I do my shopping online and I always take advantage of the two-day shipping option on Amazon. It’s like a little more instant gratification that having to wait a week.
Harry Potter Halloween Costume
I wanted to make this year’s costume affordable and practical by looking into my closet and combining what I have with a few key pieces that I purchased….. and the winner is… a Harry Potter -ish costume! The best part was that I was able to save money because I actually had a basic white button down, this black skirt, shoes, socks, and even this cape! I purchased the staples: Harry Potter glasses and a tie (under $10!).

Of course, you can’t have a Harry Potter theme costume without a wand…this wand chose me… but here is how you can make your own.
DIY Harry Potter Wand
- What you Need:
- Chopsticks
- Twine
- Hot Glue
- Paint
Using a hot glue gun, glue the end of the twine to the chopstick about halfway up. Wrap around until you get to the end where you will need to add another dollop of glue.
Using the hot glue start making a pattern on your wand. Be careful it is Hot. Get creative here!
I opted for black and spray painted the whole wand.
Voila!! Now…. take your vows…
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
