It’s a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Party (+Giveaway)
If you are a parent like me you probably read the title of this blog post and immediately finished it with, “Come inside it’s fun inside do, do, do do dee do” If YKYK with this one. It’s no secret that we are a Disney Family and I’m so happy CJP loves Disney as much as we do!
This is our second year in a row with a Mickey Clubhouse party. The plan was actually Monsters Inc. party, but last minute CJP changed her mind and I just decided to go with it. Partly because I had some of the decorations from last year. Outfit Details:
Me: Dress No. 14 Boutique // Sneakers // Charlie: Shirt // Skirt // Shoes // Bow // Joey: Mickey Shirt // Shorts
I didn’t want to go too crazy because it was just going to be immediate family (because COVID). I decided to purchase a few key pieces to make a statement and really make this party very special for Charlie. She had an absolute blast. The joy on her face when everyone sang happy birthday to her was priceless. This party was definitely the highlight of my year. I even debated on not having it and I’m so glad we did.
I found this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse balloon arch for $25 and I loved it so much I couldn’t bring myself to take it down from my in-laws house when we left! They kept it hanging for a while. The kit came with everything I needed to put it together and instructions. It was so easy to put together. With the help of of Joey’s parents and sister we were able to get the balloons blown up and the arch put up within an hour and 15 mins. The directions state longer, but it was honestly so easy to do. The company’s customer service was also excellent! They actually followed up with me to make sure I had everything I needed and was happy with their product!
If you’ve been around here for a while you might know that my pregnancy craving was always wedding cake. As a little reminder to those days, I think it’s important to have a proper cake to celebrate birthdays. Earlier this year I tried some sweets from Tasty Bakery near Pittsburgh. HEAVENLY. I hadn’t stopped thinking about them so I had to make sure this was where we ordered Charlie’s cake. The owner is super sweet and so very talented. Beverly has the cutest, whimsical set up where she does all her baking and client meetings.
I consider myself a bit of a cake snob- it has to be GOOD cake or I’d rather just not eat it. Do yourself a favor and eat the cake. You won’t regret it. The flavors were lemon with a raspberry mousse and the second layer was chocolate with a peanut butter mousse. BRB because I have some in my freezer still that I might have to bring out.
Another Pittsburgh small business I love is one of my friends, Val’s Cakes and Cupcakes. I actually met Val through a mutual friend and found out she makes cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. She is my go-to for her cookies. I’ve never tasted sugar cookies that taste this good before- honest. Each year Val just becomes more talented and it’s been so fun watching her grow. I actually have the leftovers in my freezer too. Send help!
I made all the signage for the party using my Cricut Cutting Machine. I cannot live without that machine, but I will warn you there is a learning curve to it so make sure you have patience with it. Once you get the hang of everything, it’s well worth the time it saves you!
We also couldn’t have a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party without ears for everyone. I found the Mickey and Minnie versions of these here for $12!
Our tablecloths for inside were actually purchased for Charlie’s first birthday party and I’ve been able to use them several times. I really love the idea of buying actual cloth tablecloths for parties so they can be washed and used over. The best place and price for table clothes is Linen Tablecloth. They usually have coupons and random sales.
I saw the idea of making red cups into Mickey pants on Pinterest so I created my own version of this using my cricut machine. It didn’t take long at all and I just hot glued the dots on the cups. I also bought these paper straws which fit the theme perfectly.
I know this has been such a crazy year. I can’t tell you the number times I went back and forth on having this little get together and I’m so glad we did. We did it responsibly and kept it to our inner circle of immediate family.
