I don’t know about you guys- but I am 110% in holiday mode! I’m ready! Really though, can you believe Thanksgiving is next week?! I can’t… but all you Black Friday shoppers be sure to stay tuned because I am going to keep you up to date on the best steals and deals out there as well as you cyber Monday shoppers–Oh shopping one of the many joys of this time of year… the other joy is food– onto that next :-).
In early preps for the holidays- I wanted to go ahead and get started on a cute treat for you to Pin away (you can follow me on Pinterest here) and keep in your back pocket. I always send little goody bags to work with Joey for his co-workers. I’ll probably do the same this year for mine as well. It’s a fun little tradition I started a few years ago and I really enjoy it. I don’t think the coworkers mind either. Anyway- here was a practice run! Joey was super excited to see these when he arrived home from work.
This was really very quick and easy and honestly didn’t take too many ingredients.
Ingredients:
Box of your favorite brownie mix
Candy Canes
Icing (store bought red and green- or basic recipe- butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, food coloring)
M&M’s
Instructions:
Bake brownies in a 9X13 pan per directions on the box. While your brownies are baking go ahead and prep the icing. I combined 1 stick of butter with 2 cups of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. The other option would be to just buy red and green pre made frosting. Honestly, do what works best for your schedule. If you make your own, split it up in two bowls. Add red food coloring to one and green the other until the color you want appears. Set aside. Frost the pan of brownies with the green frosting. Cut brownies into triangles- like pine trees and lay on a flat surface. Using a piping bag pipe the red food coloring to look like garland. Add your M&M’s for the bulbs and break the ends of the candy canes. Stick them in the bottom of each brownie to look like the base.
