DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion Recipe
Father’s Day is coming up, and what better way to celebrate than with a nice Old Fashioned cocktail?? Joey and I always love having little date nights, and his cocktail of choice is always an Old Fashioned without fail. I decided to take this love and turn it into a relaxing night in to celebrate what an amazing father and husband he is!
I used to have no idea where to start when it came to making my own cocktails at home, so I was thrilled that DeKuyper had all of the essentials to make things super easy. They offer pre-mixed cocktail liqueurs for tons of your favorite cocktails–just add in the alcohol! Their newest product, the Classic Ol’ Fashion Recipe Liqueur, is incredibly DELICIOUS, and is made with high-quality ingredients to create a delightful blend of tart citrus, bitter notes, and a touch of sweetness. I followed the easy two-step process of mixing one part of the Classic Ol’ Fashion Liqueur in a glass with two parts Jim Beam Black Bourbon, and I was blown away by how great the finished cocktail was.
Just as important as the cocktail itself are the barware items used to make it! We have some amazing old fashioned cocktail glasses at home as well as an ice cube tray to make the perfect size and shape ice cubes, so I pulled all of it out. Large ice cubes are really important because they melt slowly, preventing the drink from getting watered down too quickly!
We decided to also add a bit of extra flair to our cocktails by adding garnishes on top! There are lots of different garnishes to choose from, but I’ve found that the most versatile option is an orange twist. Simply cut a piece of orange peel, getting as little of the white pith as possible. Squeeze it over the drink for some added flavor, and then rub the peel along the rim of the glass. You can then trim the peel into different shapes!
And finally, no date night in is complete without a tasty snack! Joey and I both love popcorn, so that was an obvious choice for us. You can also experiment with adding different flavors and spices to your popcorn to make it even more fun.
The new Classic Ol’ Fashion Liqueur is available in stores and online through Drizly and Reserve Bar with a suggested retail price of $12.99 per 750 ml bottle. Click the link below to purchase it yourself and find other great cocktail supplies on the website!
