5 Must have Items for an Easy Beach Look
It time to start gearing up for sunny days and sandy toes! Are you planning a beach vacation this year? Or is the Coronavirus keeping you from making any plans? We just came back from a quick trip to Jamaica and it gave me all the feels for summer! I’m honestly contemplating planning a trip to a beach for us, but haven’t quite decided on the where and when. The upside, flights are really cheap right now. The downside, I’m not quite sure how I feel about COVID-19 and its uncertainty at this point. No matter what your standpoint on the virus is, I’ve learned that washing your hands is good. Not to brag, but I was washing my hands before it was trending. (Ok, ok I’m sorry I couldn’t help myself there.)
With Summer around the corner, I thought this would be a good time to share some of my favorite beach staples. I typically don’t want a lot of “fuss” when I’m on vacation. I also try to think about my outfits from the standpoint “how can I wear this another way?” This helps eliminate overpacking and taking unnecessary extra items on a trip! I found some really good deals this year on good quality staples to have for an easy beach look that you can wear multiple ways!
1. Beach Hat – I always have to bring a beach hat on vacation. It actually protects my head from the sun and also looks super cute. This hat is very versatile and looks good with a cute swimsuit look or a casual day time look like the one I’m wearing here.
2. Neutral Beach Bag– As much as I want to bring several bags on a vacation, I typically bring two bags. I usually bring my large Neverfull for our travel days and then a small one that I can wear to dinner and take to the beach. Honestly, I need just enough room for some sunblock, chapstick, sunnies, and my phone. I purchased this petite circle bag a few years and it has become one of my go to’s everytime I go to the beach. It’s just the cutest little bag! The best part, I can wear it throughout the spring/summer months at home, too. The straw material is the perfect neutral because this bag will go with anything.
3. Affordable Sunglasses–I’ve learned (quickly) that for some reason, I just don’t take care of sunglasses. I don’t know why, because I have other nice things and I take care of them. Sunglasses are never the case. I gave up on buying expensive sunglasses for this reason, but I especially take the inexpensive ones on vacation. This way, I don’t want to have to worry if I lose them. I found these sunglasses and had to have them. I’m almost positive they are an exact designer dupe, but cost under $15. I also have to add that they are such good quality- they honestly look so expensive.
3. Boyfriend Shorts – Taking a pair of boyfriend shorts to the beach is always a good idea. If you don’t own a pair of boyfriend shorts, WHY NOT? These are going to be my most worn pair of shorts this season. Hands down. BLNKNYC actually sent these to me and I couldn’t wait to get them on. I’ve talked about this brand pretty frequently because their denim is good quality, but very reasonable in price.
If you are taking these to the beach they can serve as a casual outfit or an easy cover up over your swimsuit. Aside from being very comfortable these shorts are under $70! (Fully stocked right now!) 4. Kimono- (doubles as swim cover Up – Another dual action item is this leopard kimono! I mean, can we just take a minute and swoon over this? I love it so much. Obviously a kimono Is the easiest thing to wear over a swimsuit at the beach. The material Is light and airy! You can also wear It as an easy beach look like I am here! I actually am wearing this bodysuit, but look how chic It looks with my denim shorts!
5. Sandals that Go With Anything – Last but not least you need a pair of sandals that will go with anything! It’s SO tempting to pack 10 pairs of shoes on a three day trip. (Or maybe it’s just me that likes to do that.) I really try hard to think about this because shoes do take up a lot of room. Last year, I bought these clear beaded sandals and wore them everywhere. I am contemplating buying these brown beaded sandals because they are so cute, but they also come in a clear version very similar to the ones I have from last year.
